Corfe Castle, England
The ruins of Corfe Castle are perched high on a hill above the village of the same name; for a time the deserted fortress served as a source of building stone for it. Corfe is now considered one of the most important surviving buildings from the era of King Henry I and one of the most beautiful historic sites in the south of England. The cozy village of Corfe, nestled among the chalk hills of the Purbeck Hills, adds to its charm.
